I an directed to inform you that His Excel-

-lency the Governor has at the present time under consideration

the question of the introduction in this Colony of a Government

Note Issue on the lines of the system already adopted in the

Straits Settlements and I am to enquire what are the views of

your Corporation on the subject.

This matter was last under consideration in

1899 when the Government decided to await the result of the

experiment in the Straits Settlements, which appears to have

been attended by a certain measure of success.
